HENLEY DEANERY CHOIRS' FESTIVAL

You are invited to take part in a Deanery Choirs' Festival, arranged to mark and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Accession of HM Queen Elizabeth II. The Festival will be held in the Parish Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Henley, by kind permission of the Rector and Churchwardens,
It is hoped and intended that all parish church choirs in Henley Deanery will wish to take part in the Festival, no matter how limited their vocal and financial resources. Churches which have no choir, but where some members of the congregation would like to participate as singers, are equally welcome. In churches where difficulty may be experienced in learning the music, rehearsals are available elsewhere and details may be found below.

The Music
Mr. Allwood has chosen the music in the hope that many churches will already have copies of the major items, including the Stanford Canticles, the Introit and the Anthem. In addition, loan copies of the Introit, Canticles and Anthem are likely to be available. Copies of the Responses, Psalm and the Hymns will be supplied.

Rehearsals
All Singers should attend the pre-Festival rehearsal on Thursday, 7th February at 7.30 p.m. in St. Mary's Church, Henley. Singers should be note-perfect before the pre-Festival rehearsal.
Parishes where rehearsal of the music presents problems may send their singers to rehearsals at Goring or Peppard as follows:
St. Thomas of Canterbury, Goring-on-Thames: Fridays, 11th, 18th and 25th January at 8.15 p.m.
All Saints', Rotherfield Peppard: Sundays, 13th, 20th and 27th January at 8.15 p.m.
Robed and unrobed choirs are equally welcome on 9th February. Cassocks should be worn for the rehearsal on that day. Singers should bring tea with them to the Festival.
Car Parking
Those travelling by car to Henley on 9th February are advised to park in the long stay car park at Henley railway station (£1.10). King's Road and Greys Road car parks will each cost £6 for the required length of stay on 9th February. There are no restrictions on evening parking on 7th February in these car parks. Each of the car parks is a similar distance from St. Mary's Church. From the railway station, turn right (east) into Station Road and walk north along the riverside to the church.
